It was time for my brother to get married. So many happy feelings! So much excitement! And then the stressful thought! What to wear?!!
I was living in Paris at that time, and where else to begin my ultimate shopping trip than on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and end on Avenue Montaigne? So many luxury shops, so many brands, so many beautiful clothes to choose from! I went inside every shop and tried on the most exclusive outfits. What a treat! I still remember being in Yves Saint Laurent’s private dressing floor surrounded by all these amazing colourful evening dresses and matching high heels. But then I remembered the invitation’s brief. The ceremony would be outside a little chapel on the rocks and the reception on a sandy beach. The evening gowns I was trying on the whole day would be great to wear if the reception was held at the Ritz.
By the end of the day, I had found my perfect dress and I couldn’t be more satisfied! A silk long kaftan in black and white zebra print pattern from Emilio Pucci. It had a long neckline, two slits on the sides and at the bottom of the dress was lined his famous abstract pattern in all the shades of blue, just like the colours of the sea. All along the neckline were sewn different sizes of turquoise and purple stones mixed with blue rhinestones. The dress was perfect for a wedding on a Greek island at the beginning of September. Now I just had to find the accessories.
I took detailed pictures of the dress with my phone because I knew this would be an even greater challenge. And it was! It took me weeks to find what would perfectly accessorize the dress.
A stunning pair of vintage 1980s Yves Saint Laurent coral clip-on earrings in black enamel decorated with crystal clear rhinestones in a gold-tone metal setting made by Robert Goossens. A wonderful vintage 1990 Kenneth Jay Lane cabochon ring featuring a large turquoise cabochon in the centre surrounded by clear white, black and pink rhinestones in zebra pattern layers. An amazing vintage Chanel bangle decorated with hundreds of dark grey rhinestones that gave the most amazing sparkle.
I was thrilled! I finished the outfit with black Ray Ban aviator sunglasses, René Caovilla sandals with black rhinestones and a clutch pouch bag with silver and black sequins from Jamin Puech.
Who wouldn’t look at me!! The evening was just magical!
